Chapter 25 25Leader

Chapter 25 25. Lead singer

Sabrina is one of three cantors in the temple choir.

Although the choir is nominally composed of goddess believers, the three lead singers are all elves with some singing skills.

Sabrina is the most popular of the three cantors. Her voice has a unique ethereal quality, and she can sing the "Poem of Praise" to a heavenly sound.

Sabrina is not a believer in the Statue of Liberty. She comes to the temple to sing every Wednesday and gets a reward of two hundred kolers.

Of course, apart from Sabrina, only the three priests in the temple know about this...

"Sabrina, come on, it's about to start!"

Sabrina walked into the courtyard of the temple, glanced at the Statue of Liberty in the courtyard, and heard the shouts of her fellow choir members.

"coming!"

Sabrina responded quickly.

She didn't look at Roy again at the temple gate.

On the steps of the main hall of the temple, an elf lady was waving to Sabrina, and leaned close to her and whispered:

"Have you heard? The Holy Grail in the temple was stolen, and I don't know which bastard did it..."

Mrs. Amanda seemed a little aggrieved. She was also a mixed elf with wood elf blood. She had exquisite facial features and unique green eyes. Her only shortcoming was that her nose was somewhat flat.

She runs a flower shop on Brown Street. In addition to selling bunches of flowers, she also sells flowers in pots. Of course, if someone's yard lacks a low shrub wall or a fruit tree, they can be used. Go to the flower shop to find Mrs. Amanda.

She is a devout believer in the Statue of Liberty. Her biggest wish in this life is to save enough money and then take a boat to the other side of the sea to see the Green Empire described by High Priest Reed. I heard that the Temple of Liberty over there is better than The Temple of the Moon in Castletown city center is much larger.

Sabrina nodded and whispered back:

"heard."

She felt that it was somewhat impolite to discuss this topic in the temple, so she looked carefully to the left and right.

In fact, she knew that there were only five priests in this temple, and they would be very busy during every meeting. Naturally, they would not be idle enough to come and listen to their chat.

"They say that one is made of gold and can be sold for a lot of money." Mrs. Amanda pursed her lips and said with regret.

"Without the Holy Grail, Priest Theodore chose a silver basin to hold the holy water. It felt like the holy water in the silver basin didn't have the same sacred aura as before."

When she entered the main hall of the temple, Mrs. Amanda was still chattering.

"That thief is so shameless,"

"The goddess will punish him."

The members of the choir were already waiting in front of the stage on the right side of the main hall. They were all wearing white silk robes and each held a hymn book in their hands.

Sabrina walked up first and said hello to the other two lead singers. However, the three of them decided on the order of the lead singers and began to greet everyone to stand in their predetermined positions.

The main hall is already filled with believers of the goddess, and even the second floor of the temple is full of believers.

This time, High Priest Reed prayed to the goddess together with the believers.

Priest Andyson and trainee priest Abbot stood on both sides.

There was almost no trace of blood on Priest Anderson's face, and his eye sockets were sunken. He looked like a vampire count in a secluded mansion. It was obvious that he was in a very bad state.

As the singing started, all the believers stood up.

The singing echoed in the hall.

High Priest Reed began to recite the prayer.

At the end of each paragraph of prayer, a beam of holy light will be emitted from the dome of the temple. When twelve beams of light are emitted from the dome, the temple hall will be illuminated by the holy light.

But this time the beam only lasted for a while and then disappeared.

In the songs praising the goddess, everyone completed the prayer ceremony.

Only the sound of singing still echoed in the main hall of the temple.

The hall was very quiet, and the believers clasped their hands in front of their chests.

The choir members began to file out.

Sabrina leads the choir every week.

When the prayer ceremony is over, she will also receive a piece of holy water from everyone.

At first she didn't think this glass of holy water was of any use, but everyone went to get it, and she would look very different if she didn't want it, so she would take away her share every time.

One time, Sabrina placed the holy water she brought back on the dining table, but it was accidentally drunk by Moira, who had a stomachache. Moira's symptoms soon eased.

Only then did Sabrina learn that holy water actually had some healing effects.

From then on, Sabrina came to every gathering to take home a glass of holy water.

To her, this cup of holy water is like the life sap distributed by the Moon Temple to the Silver Moon elves.

Only this time things are a little different.

When she and her companions walked into the holy pool in the side hall, except for Priest Theodore who was washing the souls of believers, Sabrina was actually wearing the robe of a trainee priest, Roy, who was holding a Silver spoons scooped out holy water from the pool and distributed it to the believers who were waiting in line to receive the holy water.

Seeing Sabrina staring at him, he actually smiled awkwardly at Sabrina.

Roy raised the silver spoon in his hand and distributed holy water to the believers without any pause.

Sabrina's eyes widened and her brain shut down. She couldn't figure out how Roy could wear the robe of a trainee priest and still distribute holy water in a decent manner.

When it was Sabrina's turn to receive the holy water, she asked Roy in a low voice:

"Why are you here?"

Roy pulled the trainee priest's robe on his chest with his hand and responded with a smile:

"I am the priest here!"

Sabrina didn't believe it and asked:

"Why haven't I seen you before?"

Roy shrugged helplessly and said:

"I only officially became a trainee priest here last Saturday."

There were people waiting in line behind her, and Sabrina didn't want to talk too much. She received the holy water and left the side hall.

However, Mrs. Amanda who was following her heard the conversation between the two, and after walking out of the temple, she said to Sabrina:

"The day before yesterday, I saw him helping in the temple."

Sabrina lowered her head and hurried out of the vestibule of the temple without responding to Mrs. Amanda's words.

Thinking of what I said at the entrance of the temple at noon, my fair cheeks turned a little red...

It was already very late after everything was done at the temple, and Roy had no chance to study.

When he and Abt were cleaning the chairs together, they also asked Abt for advice on how to draw the divine pattern of the 'Secondary Healing Technique'.

The magical arts Abbot and Jasper have learned are mostly priest-oriented. They still don't know the 'Blessing of Power', but they are very proficient in the 'Secondary Healing Technique'.

Abt also secretly told Roy that he and Jasper would occasionally use the "secondary healing technique" to make extra money, that is, they would secretly go out to treat the elves in the lower city.

Abt suggested to Roy that if possible, he should practice this magic first. It is always more practical than the blessing of power...

Jasper on the other side also suggested to Roy to learn 'purification'. Every time the big ships in Castletown Port docked, the captains would ask priests to 'purify' the ships.

"Why did they invite people to 'purify' the ship?" Roy asked curiously.

"Of course there are unclean ghosts on the ship." Abt interjected.

Jasper explained: "Some crew members died on the ship. Although the bodies were thrown into the sea, their souls still lingered on the ship. This kind of ship can easily become a ghost ship."

Then he added: "But you have to be careful with this kind of thing. Once I went to 'purify' a five-masted sailboat, and there was a siren whispering on the ship. I was so scared that as soon as I climbed on the deck, I I slid down the ladder again. It was a ship cursed by the sea monster. Later, I heard people on the dock say that there were many Naga slaves in the water prison at the bottom of the ship. The ship belonged to the Alliance Kingdom of Aetia. Slave ship.”

Abt also said: "I heard that many slave trading ships from the Green Empire would come to dock here."

Normally no one would say this to Roy.

"Does the elf patrol at the dock not care about this kind of thing?"

"Of course the visible ones will take care of it, but what can the invisible ones do..."

Regarding the elf patrols, the two trainee priests showed very disdainful expressions, obviously expressing some doubts about their abilities.

When Roy got home, he ran to the terrace and collected the clothes hanging on the line.

On rare occasions when Ms. Belinda is at home, she creates art in her studio on the second floor, a room filled with various stones and half-finished statues.

Roy greeted her and prepared to walk off the terrace.

Sabrina appeared on the terrace next door with a basin of clothes ready to be dried.

She was wearing a cool suspender skirt, and her fair skin was as smooth as ivory in the dusk. Roy's eyes couldn't help but fall on those two long, round and straight legs.

He also knew that this would anger Sabrina, but he couldn't move away from those dissatisfied eyes no matter what...

Seeing Sabrina turn and look this way, Roy quickly pretended to be ready to go downstairs.

"Sorry, I misunderstood you during the day!"

I didn't expect such a sentence to come from the other side.

"I didn't even hear what you said clearly. How about...you say it again so I can recall it?"

Roy didn't expect Sabrina to apologize. She was a bit incoherent and didn't know what to say.

"boring……"

Sabrina turned and left, leaving him with a big back.

On the other hand, Moira rested her elbows on the balcony railing, and a voice as crisp as an oriole came over:

"Roy, did you go to the Guards?"

"Sent it this morning."

Roy approached the edge of the terrace and responded.

The two often chat like this apart from each other, and Roy even prepared a chair for this.

"Roy..."

"Um?"

Moira asked: "Did the mermaid princess really turn into a pile of foam and disappear?"

"That's probably true. In fact, I heard it from the sidelines."

Roy pressed his forehead speechlessly, thinking that he could never tell her. In fact, it was just a fairy tale...

Moira said with longing:

"I heard from Sabrina that the Janna Sea Clan can leave the sea for a short time and swim forward like a snake. Only the royal family can transform into legs. This story is really good. I want to hear other things."

"..."

I have to say that on a night with gentle sea breeze, listening to the sound of waves coming from far away, I can tell fairy tales to an elf girl full of dreams.

It’s also one of Roy’s few joys.
